On the 7th and 8th of August, at only 12 Km from Zafferana Etnea, in Acireale takes place the summer carnival event, considered for years as the most beautiful of Sicily.
The so-called “summer Carnival” represents the variant of the winter carnival of Acireale, and it offers again the display during meteorologically most pleasant nights and in a tourist season.
During the display will be possible to observe the allegorical-grotesque carts in their uniqueness. They are illuminated and can do mechanical movements. It’s not possible to find such a performance in the world, you can only find it in Acireale.
In the latest years had been inserted carts with floral decorations, in which creation are used floral compositions instead of the traditional paper-pulp.
The program of the summer event is organized in that way:
6:00 pm Folk in parade. Display of Sicilian carts dressed up for the celebration.
9:00 pm The most beautiful Sicilian summer carnival. Night display of allegorical-grotesque and floral carts of carnival of Acireale.
7:00 pm The most beautiful Sicilian summer carnival. Display of allegorical-grotesque and floral carts of carnival of Acireale.
10.00 pm when Folk becomes… show. Folkloristic groups performance.

Sicilian cart in exhibition: the story, the colors, the ancient trades.
Manufacturing of paper-pulp
Craftsman’s studios of sweets: manufacturing of royal dough.
Sicilian Puppet Theatre: performances at 7.30 pm and 9.30 pm.
